About Explore Venture World

Four travelers in Explore Venture World T-shirts looking out over a lake and mountains

Explore Venture World is a travel site for people who like to plan well and wander a little further. We publish two kinds of stories: practical city and country guides that help you decide where to go and how to spend your days, and hidden-places features about the landscapes, ruins and remote corners most itineraries skip.

Our guides cover every continent, from Japan and Europe to Africa, Australia, the Americas, Antarctica and the islands of the Pacific.

What We Publish

  • City and destination guides — what to see, where to eat, how to get around and how to shape an itinerary, for places such as Tokyo, Mexico City, Lisbon and Sydney.
  • Hidden-places stories — lesser-known natural wonders, abandoned sites and quiet routes, from Patagonia’s glaciers to Madagascar’s baobab-lined roads.
  • Landmark and history features — the background behind places like Machu Picchu, Hagia Sophia and the Eiffel Tower, with the practical details you need to visit.
  • Hotel profiles — a small, growing collection of notable hotels and what makes them worth knowing about.

You can browse everything by continent and country in our destinations atlas or see the newest stories on the blog.

How We Research and Check Our Guides

Travel information changes quickly, so we treat accuracy as part of the writing, not an afterthought. Before a guide is published or updated, we check names, dates, distances, heights, seasons and opening details against authoritative sources: official tourism boards, national park and heritage authorities, UNESCO, government travel pages and established reference works. Where a guide relies on these sources, we link to them so you can check them yourself.

When we cannot confirm a detail, we leave it out or tell you to check the official site before you go. We do not invent prices, quotes, statistics or personal anecdotes. Ticket prices, timetables and entry rules change often, so always confirm them with the operator before you travel.

We revisit older guides to correct errors, fill gaps and bring them up to date. If you spot something wrong, please tell us: reader corrections are one of the most useful ways we keep guides accurate.

Photos and Credits

We aim to show real photos of the exact place a guide describes. Many come from Wikimedia Commons and other openly licensed collections, and where a license requires it, the photographer’s name and license are credited directly under the image with a link to the original.

Who Writes for Us

Our guides are written and edited by a team of four writers, each with a focus of their own: Japan and Asian culture, cultural and urban travel, global destination guides, and architecture and history. You can meet them below or on the writers page, where each profile lists the guides they have written.

Contact and Contribute

We welcome corrections, destination suggestions, story pitches and photo submissions. Write to us at [email protected] or visit our contact page for what to include. You can also follow us on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Explore Venture World funded?

The site is free to read and is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are shown automatically by Google; our guides are written to be useful to travelers, not to promote advertisers.

How often are guides updated?

We review and rewrite guides on an ongoing basis, prioritizing popular destinations and anything readers report as out of date.

Can I suggest a destination or report an error?

Yes. Email [email protected] with the page link and the detail you would like us to check or add. Links to an official source help us confirm corrections faster.

Can I submit my own travel story or photos?

We are happy to hear from travelers. Send a short pitch or a few sample photos by email, tell us where they were taken and confirm that you own the rights. We will reply if the idea fits an upcoming guide.
